The J-Bass type is renowned among many musicians for its ergonomic design, including the contours that snugly fit against the body, providing a unique level of comfort.
The body is made of Alder, a moderately lightweight wood in terms of weight classification.
Alder wood is favored by iconic brands for its excellent expressiveness in the mid-range and its bright high-end tones.
Alder body wood offers a distinct presence in the low-end, full-bodied mid-range, and pleasantly boosted high-end, making it suitable for various genres of music.
It excels in delivering resonance, attack, sustain, and overtones, which is why many builders prefer this tonewood.
The Floral White Gloss body is paired with a white pearl pickguard, the Jet Black body with a black pearl, and the Uranus Blue body with a tortoise, creating a matching pickguard selection for each body color.
The well-seasoned hard maple neck is extremely sturdy, providing enhanced reliability during performances.
It features a thick and comfortable grip, adopting the 70s U-shaped neck profile that was widely used on jazz basses in the 1970s. Additionally, a skunk stripe is incorporated on the back of the neck to further enhance its durability.
The neck is finished in a matte texture, allowing for a smoother playing experience when changing positions or utilizing slides with your left hand.
The high-strength 4-point bolt-on neck joint provides stability and ensures long sustain.
Furthermore, the bolt-on neck design offers significant advantages in terms of repair and maintenance since the neck can be detached from the body.
In particular, the use of a semi-round neck joint plate and the smooth contours crafted on the edges make it easier to play on the higher frets around the 18-20th position, providing smooth access for left-hand playing.
The contoured logo headplate, along with the bone nut made of natural material, increases the sustain of the guitar strings and delivers clear resonance.
The truss rod adjustment allows for correcting neck relief, and the truss rod hole is reinforced with a hex wrench made of metal material to prevent damage to the wood, finished with reinforced plastic.
The vintage-style tuning machines with a gear ratio of 21:1 ensure precise tuning adjustments.
In particular, they minimize any potential backlash that may occur due to the meshing of gears, thus providing stable and reliable tuning maintenance.
The 9.5-inch (241mm) radius fretboard is available in either maple or rosewood, featuring 20 medium-jumbo frets firmly inserted. It has a scale length of 34 inches (864mm).
The Floral White color option comes with a maple fretboard, known for its crispy and bright high-end tones, complementing the overall sound.
To cater to bass guitar playing that involves slides, the maple fretboard is finished in a glossy texture.
For the Jet Black and Uranus Blue color options, rosewood fretboards are installed, offering a dense and solid wood characteristic that delivers a tight and robust sound in the mid-range.
The Korean-made TESLA Model J pickups are hand-scattered-wound using vintage pickup manufacturing techniques. This method produces a rich and complex harmonic characteristic compared to uniform coil winding.
The single-coil pickups for the neck and bridge positions deliver deep, warm, and unique vintage tones while reducing noise due to the reverse winding direction.
These pickups are meticulously crafted with high-quality American plain enamel coils, Alnico 5 pole pieces magnets, fiber bobbins, and vintage-style cloth wiring, providing a textured and distinctive sound. They are also potted with premium wax between the coils for added stability.
The TESLA 72B active pre-amplifier is installed, allowing for a wide range of tonal variations even during playing with simple controls. (The 9-volt battery is inserted on the back of the body.)
It features a dual-knob configuration with a master volume and master tone, allowing you to adjust the tone in both active and passive modes.
The pickup pan pot controls the balance between the neck and bridge pickups.
The 3-band boost/cut (treble, mid, bass) enables you to adjust the amplification/attenuation levels of high, mid, and low frequencies.
In particular, the mid-frequency can be adjusted within the range of 80Hz to 2KHz using the lower knob below the mid boost, allowing you to select the desired mid-range.
The guitar is equipped with a 4-saddle vintage type bridge, commonly used in jazz bass guitars.
In particular, it allows for both string-through-body configuration and the conventional method of stringing through the bridge itself.
Each of the four saddles can be individually adjusted in height using a hex wrench, allowing for customization of pickup pole spacing, string action, string curvature, and stringing preferences according to the player's taste.
A durable 15mm pad provides great protection for the guitar.
When placed on the ground in a standing position, a thick pad is added to prevent damage to the bottom of the guitar from strap-pin impacts.
It also features a neck pillow for protection and stability, and wear-resistant fabric is added to areas of contact with metal parts such as strings, tuning machines, and bridges to prevent wear and tear caused by friction.
